Dawn of the 21st Century by The Millennium Photo Project (Smashing Books, $40) is the offspring of a photographic journey that inspired 3,500 photographers to submit 269,000 photos taken between noon Dec. 31, 1999, and noon Jan. 1, 2000 (local time around the world). The photos were judged and narrowed down to the approximately 500 found in this book. Its 320 pages carry the work of 370 photographers from 117 countries. Peter Oxley is one of the contributors.

Path to '21st Century' blazed on Internet

"It's fitting that an event chronicling the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st was conceived on the Internet. And it's also fitting that the biggest photojournalism event in history should honor the new millennium."

Peter Oxley is a freelance British photographer living in Tokyo, Japan. He travels frequently throughout Asia. Peter has covered international motor car racing for Nissan Motorsports; travel, leisure and lifestyle pictorials in particularly Japan and the Philippines. And English gardens for international publications. His work has appeared in Time and Newsweek, and in various other publications both in Japan and overseas. Peter is available for portrait, commercial and corporate work. His one-man Fine Arts photography exhibitions have included "Manila Chapter One" at the Ayala Museum, January 21 - February 4, 1998, and "Just A Moment" at the Tokyo City Club, June 12 to 20, 2000.
