It is Sunday afternoon, Harajuku, central Tokyo. This is the center of the youth fashion industry in Japan. It is also the place where people come to see and be seen. A young girl in her mid-to-late teens meticulously prepares her makeup on the street. This is a painstaking process! Once she (or he) is happy with what she has produced, and her attire is in order, she will walk around, pose with friends, strike an attitude. And play to those with cameras who have come here to see what is going on. Next week, if time and money afford the long trip in from the suburbs, she may come back... as somebody else!
